Tennessee River, the Weser is next. Once again, Prof. Dr. Andreas Fath will swim the entire length of the river to raise awareness of the state of our waters and to champion a plastic-free environment. Along the way, water samples will be collected and analyzed for pollutants and microplastics. In parallel, interactive educational programs for children and young people will take place in various towns along the river. The project will be documented on film, with the resulting documentary later integrated into educational programs and public events. Our goal is to mobilize as many groups as possible along the Upper Rhine to clear the riverbanks of plastic and waste. The initiative is designed to build cross-border awareness for the protection of the Rhine. That\u2019s why we invite all participants to partner with groups on the opposite riverbank and plan joint activities together.<\/span>\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\t<div class=\"project-highlight project-highlights-image\">\n\t\t<div class=\"project-highlights-image-thumb\"  style=\"background-image:url(https:\/\/h2org.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Bildschirmfoto-2025-04-24-um-12.29.16.png);\"><\/div>\t<div class=\"project-ex-button wp-block-button is-style-fill\">\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/plastikfreienatur.de\/rheineswasser\/\" class=\"wp-block-button__link has-blue-medium-background-color has-background wp-element-button\" target=\"_blank\">to project page<\/a>\t<\/div>\t<\/div>\n\t<div class=\"project-highlight project-highlights-text\">\n\t\t<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity alignnormal\">\n\t\t<div>\n\t\t<h4>Pure Elbe<\/h4>\r\nIn summer 2024, Prof. Dr. Andreas Fath swam the Elbe \u2013 1,080 kilometers from the Giant Mountains to the North Sea \u2013 in a project dedicated to protecting nature.\r\n\r\nThrough an accompanying campaign and interactive education program, we raised awareness about the importance of healthy rivers, the threats posed by human pollution, and the dangers of microplastics.\r\n\r\nAlong the Elbe, water samples were regularly collected and analyzed for pollutants and microplastics. F\u00fcr einen sauberen Fluss voller Leben und Artenvielfalt.\r\nForscher:innen haben in der Donau mehr Plastikteile als Fischlarven gefunden. \u00dcber 4 Tonnen Plastik gelangen aus der Donau ins Schwarze Meer. Artist Ana Tudor captured the river\u2019s unique landscapes and its endangered plant and animal life on a one-kilometer canvas.
